Developing a reflective practice should be part of every aspect of our professional lives. This reflection needs to be "systematic, methodical, and purposeful" (Thompson, 15). Reflection can be as simple as a sticky note attached to your lesson plan or an audio recording on your phone. The information gather in reflection will allow me to reveal patterns and trends in my teaching as I hunt to improve my teaching skills. Each year, teachers are observed within their classroom and receive important feedback to improve their instruction. Being that I am not the only staff member in my students daily routine, it is important to reflect with those adults as well. Lastly, parents should be included in the feedback process. This can be done during parent-teacher conferences. Below I list a few ways in which I will reflect throughout the school year.
